San Roman de Escalante is located in one of the most beautiful parts of Cantabria, halfway between Santander and Bilbao. The hotel was formerly a seventeenth century manor house, emblazoned with its own coat of arms, and whose stables have now been transformed into its current restaurant.
The hotel is hidden away behind the Nature Reserve of Santoña, a spot reminiscent of the nearby bay of Santander and where the Pilgrims on the "Camino de Santiago" used to pass. It is an ideal haven for unwinding from the city, enjoying the gardens and strolling through the private woodlands, or just sipping a cup of tea in one of the lounges.
